Bereavement Support

If you have lost someone and are finding it hard to cope, it may be helpful to speak to someone. You aren't alone. There's lots of help on hand. Here are some helplines and online chat places you can contact, with trained counsellors at the end of the line. Pick up the phone. They're ready to help.

Cruse Freephone National Helpline
Cruse is staffed by trained bereavement volunteers, who offer emotional support to anyone affected by bereavement. Their number is 0808 808 1677. Their website can be found here.

The Cruse Helpline operates the following hours:

  • Monday - 9.30am-5pm

  • Tuesday - 9.30am-8pm

  • Wednesday - 9.30am-8pm

  • Thursday - 9.30am-8pm

  • Friday - 9.30am-8pm

  • Saturday and Sunday - 9.30am-8pm

Samaritans (24 hour helpline)

Their 24 hour helpline phone number is 116 123. Available to talk at any time of the day or night if you are feeling unable to cope with any situation. Welsh speakers are also available to support you between 7am and 11pm.

Childline (24 hour helpline)

If you are under 19 you can call Childline on 0800 11 11 for 24-hour confidential support to children and young people for any reason or cause.
